Investing in women’s employment

Ergon authored a major report for IFC’s WINVEST programme looking at the business case for investing on workplace policies and practices that encourage women’s participation. The report was written by Kirsten Newitt.

The report focuses on making the business case in emerging and developing markets, where the evidence base is not as strong as in high-income economies and labour markets tend to function in different ways. One of the most important elements of the report is a series of in-depth company case studies, developed through site visits to companies in Brazil, Chile, Ukraine, Vietnam, Kenya and Thailand. All of the companies involved in the research were convinced that investing in women workers makes business sense.
