Marcella’s main interests and expertise include:
- Human rights and labour rights in global supply chains, in particular the garment and the oil and gas sectors
- Natural resources, environmental justice and the rights of indigenous peoples
- The development and effectiveness of grievance mechanisms in the context of business impacts on human rights
- Gender equality and women’s empowerment in the globalised workplace
Prior to joining Ergon in January 2020, Marcella worked on a variety of business and human rights issues in environments as diverse as the financial sector, strategic litigation, and civil society advocacy. She also has experience as a public affairs advisor to civil society organisations and has volunteered for a number of national and international human rights and environmental organisations.
Marcella holds degrees in history and law and has a LL.M. in Public International Law from Utrecht University, where she focused on business and human rights and the relation between human rights and the environment.
