Iona Eckstein

Iona joined Ergon in December 2022. Her main interests include:

  • Human rights and labour standards in global supply chains,
  • The platform economy and the intersection between labour and technology,
  • Deforestation risks and socially inclusive forest management,
  • Gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

Prior to joining Ergon, Iona worked for the UK Government in the International Climate Finance Team, working on tropical forestry programming and policy. She also worked at a Policy Research institute based in India, researching the platform economy, women’s work opportunities and the future of work in the Global South.

Iona holds an MSc degree in Global Development from the University of Copenhagen, and a BSc degree in Sociology from the University of Bristol.
