Laura Fernández Álvarez

Laura has been a Consultant at Ergon since 2022 and is a qualified lawyer with extensive experience across human rights, project management, and teaching.

At Ergon, Laura has supported a variety of corporate and development finance institution clients to promote human rights due diligence and gender equality. Her recent experience has included:

  • Strategic advice on developing human rights policies and due diligence
  • Global supply chain risk assessments and human rights impact assessments in various sectors
  • Capacity building and training on topics such as gender equality and sports and human rights

Her consultancy experience has included research and advice to companies in a variety of industries on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, human rights, and strategic services. She was formerly a Corporate Legal Accountability Fellow at the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) and held various positions at the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), including Legal Officer, Head of Rule of Law, and Consultant.

Laura has a U.S. law degree and is admitted to practice in the state of New York. She completed both her BS and JD degrees at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She speaks Spanish, English, and Serbo-Croatian.
