Laura Fernández Álvarez

Laura has 17 years of experience in international human rights, programme / project management, research, and teaching. Her consultancy experience has included research and advice to companies in a variety of industries on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, human rights impact assessments, and strategic services. She was formerly a Corporate Legal Accountability Fellow at the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre (BHRRC) and held various positions at the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), including Legal Officer, Head of Rule of Law, and Consultant. Laura joined Ergon in 2022.

Her interests lie in:

  • The intersection of human rights and environmental and social justice within the context of the Just Transition.
  • Supporting businesses to promote human rights and gender equality through a focus on rightsholders’ voices.
  • Human rights due diligence by businesses in contexts of conflict and transition.

Laura has a U.S. law degree and is admitted to practice in the state of New York. She speaks Spanish, English, French, and Serbo-Croatian.
